In the early days of adoption announcements, you had to take whatever birth announcements you could find at the card shops, or else pay a printer lots of money for a custom card.

Then in the 70's photo baby announcements were invented, and the adoption community adapted those cards to their needs as well. For some folks they're still good enough.

But now that we're in the 21st century, and those cards just don't cut it anymore.
